Happy Weekend

"He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.) When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without him, I am only another man. With him, I am all-powerful. He is loyalty itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. He has promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever - in case I need him. And I expect I will - as I always have. He is just my dog." - Gene Hill

Creating an Acquisitive Ship Captain's Home

A collector with a penchant for nautical, fashion exec Scott Currie set out to revamp his 1899-built ship captain's home.

I was smitten with a few things:
Sitting room - Chinese Chippendale-style chairs painted in a lovely lemongrass-yellow color with two of my favorite Benjamin Moore paint shades:  Walls/BM Sea Haze, Trim/BM Silver Dollar.
Pool - floating stainless spheres:  General Home Store.
Loft Office - Bamboo chair from 1stDibs.com, covered in Lulu DK.
Bedroom - Burlap curtains with grosgrain ribbon trim, and bed linens via Matouk and Ralph Lauren.
Bedroom - Gorgeous wall color, BM Conch Shell Pink.
Entry - A collection of sea finds, as well as a coach lantern from a London antiques shop.

Elizabeth Cecil

Elizabeth Cecil has graced the pages of Edible Vineyard magazine, since its inception, with her sumptuously, simplistic photos.  The works above, from her interior collection, have my favorite hue of comforting, warm blue.  The quote is of Daniel Pink - motivator, author and speaker - a thought for the right-brained.

Cecil's work is on view at the new pep art gallery, which recently opened on 5/30.  Vineyard Haven, 5-Corners @ 7 Beach Street.

Dieppa Restrepo

The quintessential grown-up sneaker teamed with Theory.
A love combination:  city prep, paired-down, and a bit old-fashioned.

Casa Estrella - as envisioned by Quentin

This is the most ingenious piece of real estate marketing, that I have yet to see...ever.  Quentin Bacon, you are the master behind the masterpiece...love the cinematography.   As well - Scott Hargis beautiful stills...wow.  The steam rising off the water, at sunrise....I wanted to be there, just gorgeous.
Adoring my creative colleagues...congrats!

New American Family Home

Scott Sanders' new book Picture Perfect, is chock-full of clean-lined classicism, and documentation of the Anderson home, of which he designed - from original floor-plan drawings, to color schematics, to finished installation.  Sanders formerly served as Director of Ralph Lauren's interior design department.
