The
Sail MV event is sold out...hope you have a ticket. This is one of the season's brightest fundraising efforts held at the Tisbury Wharf, on July 10th (tommorrow), in Vineyard Haven. A fleet of classic wooden sailboats will be available for viewing, and you can kick up your Jimmy Choo's to the Beetlebung Steel Band...dance until your feet hurt and then kick them off, for a few more rounds.
A few auction items include, generously donated, a house in St. Barts, a villa in Tuscany and an African photo safari - to name a few.
Jaime Hamlin (a Clinton presidential catering favorite) will be tantalizing appetites with lobster delights and other seafood fare.
The Sail MV program is a nonprofit organization dedicated to celebrating and protecting the island's maritime heritage, and provides sailing lessons to children from the age of eight through high school. Adults are also offered continuing education in sailing safety, captain's licensing, and maritime lectures. A rowing crew sets off in Grace and Cassie, Cornish pilot gigs, daily for either a 1400 calorie burn (if you were on a boat like my crew), or a moderately-paced run to catch up on local gossip and conversation (always interesting).
